Race and the Borderlands: Human Rights, Human Triumphs, and Forging Peace on the U.S.-Mexico Border

Call for Papers

We invite papers that broadly consider any of the following themes, and/or related topics:

  • Racial capitalism and borders
  • Human rights on the borderlands and shifting ideas of legality, violence, and permissible cruelty as forms of deterrence
  • Forging peace: What does peace on the border look like? What would a peace-able border be? How are organizations, scholars, and activists working creatively and collectively towards a horizon of peace and justice on the border? 

Conference fees

  • Presenters with institutional support pay $100
  • Presenters without institutional support pay $50
  • Students/organization and community members/activists without institutional support may request conference fee waiver
